Well I have had a couple of weeks of realizing that its possible to be stumped and having a bike that aint going anywhere. Something I never really thought about and something my mate worries about on his RC30, I thought would not affect me for a while..

What caused this? I was changing hose to Samco type and the front lower water union snapped off, as brittle as an egg, a very light twist of the screw and it was snapped! I suppose a 20 year old 11 months a year on the road bike is going to suffer, especially this last few years with the carpets of salt on the roads.

I prefer new official parts if possible so tried the usual places, advertised here and what it boiled down to was only Graeme France could deliver. He was the only person who had the part, not official Honda, as they dont make em any more but a re-manufactured part, which is perfect. I'm very happy with it and can ride my bike again. Hmm maybe I will stick with my original hoses as after the fun you've had I don't dare replace them

Yep, that's the cleanest part of the engine.

I vaguely remember this is one part that could cause trouble and looking at my part it looked dodgy to say the least. thats when I start looking for a replacement as I had this thought, it looked ripe for failure. Next day I started my re-hosing, all went well upto that point, and I tried cleaning and soaking in oil and just went for it and as predicted, I turned the clamp screw, very lightly and "SNAP" oh bugger..

I asked a couple of local fixer upers but no one would touch the original part, my cousin who is an engineering genius has moved 40 miles away somewhere, so I was well stuck.

As far as the Hose went, it fit fine, removing the carbs and loosening the plastic tray that holds the fuel pump gave enough access. The piece that is missing from the kit (4mm internal opening), that fits across the top of the carbs, can be bought off ebay for a couple of quid so why Samco cant add it I have no idea.
