I have had a new battery now for about a month and when fully charged my bike starts up straight away first press of the button but after a few commutes using full beam its a little harder so start maybe 2 or 3 goes on the button? recently I have tested my battery and most of the time it shows partially charged on my battery tester instead of full, the odd time it also sounds like its running on 3 cylinders or running a bit rough around 3-4K is this my reg/rec or something else ? maybe spark plugs or lead ?
Also should my battery stay fully charged all the time with daily use ? trouble is I only travel 4 miles to work each day so is this not enough to keep it charged ?

i would say reg/rec beacause mine did the same thing.
well mine actually died on me and i had to bump it and ride wiv the lights off for few days while new one was in post.
plugged new one in and trickle charged the old battery and no probs since.

get a hold of a multimeter and do a few simple checks, battery charge rate etc.
give you a better idea.

checked my battery again today and for the pastweek now its showing fully charged everyday, now obviously the charging system must be working fine does this mean my reg/rec is okay or is it purely because I use the bike daily ? what else would cause this slightly rough running at about 2-4k revs ? do I need new sprak plugs ? also my chain / sprockets are worn / slack these are getting replaced next week but above 5K it pulls really well could this be the problem ? also there is a vibration around the flat mark could it be the carbs need re-balancing or cleaning ?

Hi,
Its probably worth doing a full service and getting the new chain and sprockets before you try and do any more diagnosis. It sounds like you have a few things that need looking at, get everything up together and then troubleshoot if the problems are still there.
