So I was taking apart one of my sets of carbs tonight to give them a clean and found out I have what I think is a set of uk carbs with the metal slides:





So I have a few questions about what to do with them, does anyone know what benefit there would be to fitting these over a set of Japanese spec carbs? I have a set of HRC style curved slides from an nc24 aswell as these metal slides which are likely to perform better?

Lastly does anyone know what they are worth? I saw a set sell ages ago but can't remember what they went for in the end.

So just compared the springs to some from an random home market set of carbs and it appears the slide springs are longer too, does this tally up with the specs of uk carbs?

I recently had mine to bits I would say yes they look like the diaphrams in my carbs

UK carbs are VDE 3A [RL] VDE 3C [RM]

I dont think there will be any noticable diffeerence.

if you have time and paitences you can swap em and ride about see if theres any noticeable change in throttle feel but I think it will probably be too minor to notice.

If your current setup is fine then id keep those UK parts for somebody with a UK bike that needs spares.

Thanks for the help guys, seems strange honda went to all the bother fitting metal slides different needles etc for no appreciable gain. Think I might keep hold if them and see how they feel on the road.

Does anyone know if the slide springs are different too as pictured above? I've been told the shorter ones might be HRC springs.

The gain may just be in longevity of the parts, I imagine the metal slides would outlast plastic.

That does make sense Cam, the slides are in bloody good condition, when i first pulled them out the box (not knowing they where UK carbs) i pushed the slides up and they moved so much smoother than jap spec plastic ones!

Still didnt realise they where metal until i took them out of the carbs though, allmost sold them for just £50 quid lol.

I dont think they are worth anything more than stock ones unless your a collector and willing to pay over the odds as there are less of them about.

UK bikes did have a little more power over the JDM bike. I can only speculate but im guessing they weigh different amounts and this will affect the throttle resposne?

At the time of laucnh the max speed for bikes was 50mph, its only 62mph now though...

since the speed in uk europ is higher maybe the throttle is designed to be smoother at higher speed cruisiing?

would ned honda to confirm as its only wild speculation.

Never found my bike to have any running issues with Japanese slides...
