exhaust diameters

Post by V4Chris »

I'm trying to sort out a short link pipe for a half system that I have on an NC30. Just need to get a few measurements straight first.

The pipes are as shown below (Yamamoto I am told) and exit just below the swingarm.

I am just wondering what the measurement "should" be for the outside diameter.

My ruler says anything from 47-49mm depending on where I measure. Does anyone know what should it be? It's not going to be some crazy Imperial measurement is it?
Should I say 48mm to the people who are going to make the link pipe?

Also, typically what sized slip-on exhausts go on these bikes? Something like 50mm OK? That would tie up with a link pipe of ~48mm + a couple of mm for the pipe walls.

Hi Chris,

I can measure mine, and a spare set I have, with a vernier tonight.

Will get back to you tomorrow if that is soon enough.

Regards,

Dave.

Many aftermarket systems have a 2" diameter pipe. (50.8cm)

I'd be interested to know how you get along with the link pipe as i have the same system but use a scruffy linking method at the moment. I nice tidy link pipe would work a treat.

Chris, Mark (CMSMJ1) had one made up for himself and Rhory so PM him and see if he can help. The linkpipe didn't turn out to be too expensive and it has all the bends in the right places. The can side of the pipe was the correct size to fit a 2 inch slip-on.

Thanks everyone.

CMSMJ1, do you remember who made your link pipes?

The exit from the half system is definitely not 2", my guess is 48mm, but it would be good to know for sure. If you could get a measurement (DAC,CMSMJ1) that would be great, thanks.

Thanks for the link Neosophist, I will also contact Predator, just to see what they can do.

I have Yamamoto system on my bike with the link pipe you require - I'll take a pic of it tonight and post it up with the measurements. :D
