Frontal Support

Hello,

Just a quickie - I'm about to change my steering bearings and i'm wondering the safest way to support the front of the bike whilst the yokes and forks are out.

I have a rear paddock stand and don't really want to pay ££s for an abba stand. Obvious answer would be to wack a scissor jack under the front headers but Im really not keen on the weight of the bike resting on the header pipes.

Thanks

you can put a jack under the front exhaust downpipes, but it is a risky approach, although i've done it before it was ok. If it were me i'd get an abba stand, they will repay themselves many times over, you won't regret getting one.

+1 on the car jack under the headers (use a piece of wood in between!), works fine.

I could not bear to lift on the headers so made an I beam shaped adapter that slides between the pipes and allows me to jack securely against the sump. Still not the best way but very practical and quick.

Is there enough of a gap between each of the header pipes to get a jack in between? Would like to see what you managed to conjure up up so I can copy it!
