Hi, i'm about to start an engine rebuild for the race bike, i'd just like some advice on what i should be ordering up and replacing.
First will be a full gasket set from Rick and new shell bearings for the crank. Any input would be great!

Don't order the main/rod bearings until you have measured the crank. Chances are the Honda codes might not be the correct bearings for your needs now. I found that I had to diverge from the Honda charts to get the clearance bang on.
I blogged my rebuild here if you're curious:

A gasket set is an obvious need but as Luke says, you really need to wait until you get in there before you can see what is what and what does (or does not)need changing.
My 2p worth is just to make sure you are very organised about striping the engine down as it will make MASSIVE difference when putting it back together. I got some bits of sheet foam so I could keep all the casing/sump bolts together and in the right place. Everything else was laid out on my bench as it came appart on top of some blue paper roll so I could keep everything in the right orientation and even wrote on the paper what everything was.
Maybe a bit anal and Über methodical - but it worked well for me

When I did mine, every component went into a sandwich bag and labelled. Then stuff was grouped by which head it cam from and put in storage boxes. Cylinder parts went into 4 separate marked boxes. Take shitloads of pics - they will be invaluable when you rebuild it.
One can never be too anal

NGneer's cardboard idea for the bolts is also a good one. I did that recently on another build and it is invaluable

Thanks for the replys, i'm just waiting on Rick to get more gasket kits in before i get started.
I Read about the codes for the bearing shells in the haynes manual. How would i go about measuring the crank and knowing which shells i would need to order then.?
