Hi guys being the new owner of a nc30 hasn't started out so good lol anyway as stated in the newbie section I was having abit of trouble with her running on 3 cylinders...shes now firing on all 4 (whoo) but she still plays about abit in the 7-8k range but ok before and after...Is this morning (some retard in this area?)
plus I need a new front screen..would I need a nc30 or do other models fit, as theres someone local breaking a nc21?

I don't think the screens are interchangeable. I used to have one from eBay that was $30nz delivered (around 15 pounds)....

Re: Nc30
thanks just needed to know if it was possible to swap different vfr screens..as It would of been easier for me to get one. But its fine ill grab one off ebay (cheapest around £28 if think)
could someone tell me if a standard vfr nc30 has a retarded cdi or anything between 7-8k revs at all...not sure if I should take the bike for a run or not, as from a free rev on stand she doesn't seem very happy in this rev range area?

It's been a while since I owned a stock vfr but from memory they did, to comply with the Japanese laws at the time. There are ways to fix it with exhaust, jetting and a hrc or ignitech cdi...I'm sure others on here can be more specific

Re: Nc30
There's no restriction in the cdi, the only restriction the Jap domestic market bikes have is a top speed restriction of 180 km/h.Burnsy wrote:could someone tell me if a standard vfr nc30 has a retarded cdi or anything between 7-8k revs at all...not sure if I should take the bike for a run or not, as from a free rev on stand she doesn't seem very happy in this rev range area?
Usually this sort of midrange issue is caused by fitting an aftermarket air filter or modifying the airbox or induction side of things, these bikes can respond badly to that sort of thing.
Were you riding it to discover this issue or just revving it in neutral? In neutral they don't always rev cleanly until the water temp is hot.

Hi guys! No I haven't used the bike at all yet lol this problem with misfiring type problem within this rev range is all in neutral. As I don't want to use the bike until all is well with her. She was firing on all 4 cylinders yesterday but this morning on 3 again...the back right down pipe is cold, So its this one im having problems with. Im booking her in for this to be looked at with 4 new plugs, hopefully this will solve this problem, as when I clean that plug yesterday it was firing fine, but isn't this morning.
I do have a blue round thing in the back of the speedo which I think is the kpm to mph converter.

Re: Nc30
That blue thing is a converter yes.
I think you'd be better off giving the bike a good rag round to really feel what the engine is doing.
Revving in neutral is not a true indication of what the bike should run like under load.

ok I understand what your saying, she hasn't been sat for to long, only since September which isn't a great deal, past her mot 3 weeks ago...this has only happened since she was in transit to me over night lol
but I might firer her up and take her for a wee run tomorrow to see what shes like on the open road...but this will be my first run on her...worrying really! lol

Re: Nc30
hi guys! iv done a far bit of reading and it seems my problem the same as the speedo problem..which I would have to do the mod (if it isn't already done) im going to double check this tomorrow...as when she was firing on all 4 cylinders this 6k limiter was still there...so ill clean the plug again to get her to run on all 4 and have alook at the speedo....is this easy to do, does it connect inside the speedo or in the back of.
