Just Got My RVF400 Dyno Tuned

Post by wogstaa »

Hey all,

I just got my bike back from RB Racing.

Thought I'd post up the graphs since I'm no expert on these things to see what you all think... It ended up requiring size 125 main jets, to my surprise.
TSR Titanium system is the only mod performance mod.

Looks fine to me, though there's no air/fuel ratio chart. RB's know what they're doing with these bikes.

You sure your air filter is standard honda? The full power run has a strange glitch before the tune.

Yeah, it's definitely a Honda filter, I bought it from RB and installed it myself.
I'm not sure why there's no A/F ratio chart, I've only taken it for a quick ride and the power delivery feels much better.

They ended up using the stock carb springs (I had the HRC springs installed before) and replacing the long intake stacks because they were stuffed.

I've never had a bike dyno'd myself, but I would have expected the horizontal axis to be rpm, not km/h. Is there a simple conversion from km/h to rpm, or is it just a matter of simplicity/expense?

the bottom axis is rpm on thr second graph. depends what your dynoing for with what you want displayed.

ie top speed run etc.

62hp sounds good, looks lije weird flat spot before, would be good to have multiple runs to makesure its not one off but overall seems better

flat spot may have been it jumping about on the rollers*

62 seems healthy but 125 mains on a RVF....thats huge. I trust the dyno is reading right? being RB's id assume so

Yeah, Harley tells me he put 125s in there and I was pretty shocked, but it seems right given that I was running 115s and it was running lean as well as 1.5mm lower (richer) float height.

The weird thing is it was running 108s before with the floats at 10.5mms and full throttle performance was fine, it did have a mid range flat spot though.

Would the exhaust being titanium rather than stainless have anything to do with the massive jet size required?
The walls of the exhaust seem pretty thin, which to me says that maybe the inner diameter of the pipes could be bigger than stainless pipes.

Exhaust material has very little to do with jetting id say although saying that when i had a Ti SP1 half system i think i used 116 mains which i thought was big for a RVF, with my full hiperform system i ran 112's

The intake is stock too other than me removing the foam on the snout because it was all dry and breaking up, I can't imagine that would make much, if any difference at all. But then, I don't know these bikes very well... yet

They didn't seem concerned about the jet size though, so I'm confident it's all good. The fuel economy will probably take a massive drop though but that doesn't concern me.

I did notice the idle hangs up a bit though when I come to a stop.
