Just bee out it the shed looking at what i need to do to my bike to get it all back together and ready for an mot etc.

I thought i had connected all the wires back up but noticed a small /thin black wire running up the right hand side of the engine - it seems to have a female connector for the bullet type connectors at the end. Its quite a long length (about 12") and i think i remember it running around the engine casing but cant work out where it goes!

The bike has run without it connected so i guess its an auxillary system?

I'll sort a picture out tomorrow in the day light!

Yeah its either the oil pressure switch or the neutral switch.

Neutral , the oil pressure is a ring connector I think.

Its the neutral switch, but if the engine starts with it disconnected, then it will start in gear.

yep, strange, I was under the impression they wouldnt start without that switch being connected, unless of course its being earthed somewhere it shouldnt be?

As above though, if its not working it will turn over and probably run itself off the side stand and fall over if you have it in gear and hit the starter button, seen that happen before with somebody who bypassed clutch and neutral switch

On the RHS of the engine, isn't there a similar wire which connects to the stat?
