Instrument cluster white writing touch up?

Post by nickbawt »

Hey Guys,

Not really sure how to search for this, my wording hasnt pulled my much.

The white wording on my switch blocks, choke, and instrument cluster is all faded and partially rubbed off. How have you guys restored these? Would a sign writer be able to fix them up? I thought about a modelling paint brush and white paint but my hands aren't steady enough for that.

Any tips would be awesome.

Some info here, a lot of people have done it themselves: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=41674

There were a few pics around of the finished result, I can't seem to find them now.

I've had great luck restoring all kinds of switches from old Alfa' window switches to the white cluster writing on the NC30.

You need some:
cotton ear swabs
soapy water
White out correction fluid (the old school liquid)
emory cloth or 2000 grit paper

Clean the surface with the swabs and soap, let dry. Since the writing is hot stamped and leaves an indented impression go over it with a thin layer of correction fluid. Let dry and gently buff with the cloth to remove the excess. good as new
