So was thinking seeing as my standard calipers need a good overhaul anyway might as well upgrade..
I've read a lot about the sp1/cbrr calipers being a good fit, do I need anything other than the mounting plates from RO to fit them up? And are they that much more noticeably better?
Cheers! :)

Personally, I'd spend the money rebuilding the stocks ones - new seals, lines, pads etc. I think there is much to be said about the stock calipers; the problem is most are pushing 20+ years these days and are more than likely on the original seals.

Ok cheers mate, might pull them apart and see how it goes.
If I did go for sp1 calipers is it only the brackets I would need to fit them?

You'll need the brackets and new brake lines (SP1 or 03-04 600rr lines will fit).
I have SP1 calipers, they look nice but their stopping power is hardly different than the stock calipers if they're in good condition. I bought them because it was cheaper than full (seals and pistons) caliper rebuilds.

You may need a new master cylinder too.

I have the 929/SP1 calipers, I ran them back to back with my original NC30 ones for a while and whilst the stopping power is only marginally different I much prefer the feel of the 929/SP1 brakes.
The 929/SP1 set-up feels slightly more progressive and smoother if you will. My NC30 set-up used to grab harshly when you got to a point of pulling the lever back and always used to un-nerve me.
My NC30 set-up had also been fully rebuilt with brand new OEM seals and braided lines, so it wasn't like there was anything wrong.

Yeah the newer calipers definitely have a more progressive feel.

Pre-radial CBR600RR calipers are fine with the original NC30 master cylinder but SP-1 calipers have bigger pistons and really require a m/cyl to match.
RC30s and early `blades used a master cylinder which is identical to the NC30 one but bigger bore - either of those will work well with SP-1 calipers.
