Re: ahhhhhhhhhh bugger
it seems u have checked pretty much everything,
i think because its a temperamental problem then that suggests a electrical fault......usually with a fuelling problem it would happen all the time and the fact you have cleaned the carbs then that rules that out.just double check the leads, plugs and make sure they are all sparking really well, condition of connections and any signs of corrosion!!!!
what symptoms does the bike have that makes you think its running on 3 cylinders?
william

Re: ahhhhhhhhhh bugger
As these are wasted spark systems you can swap the leads around from the coil. If you can do this and the cylinder effected changes then it is electrical, if not it will be fuel or mechanical.

Re: ahhhhhhhhhh bugger
I had the same but maybe different issue? ... All was revealed when it was on dyno.
Make sure the HT lead and cap are OK.
Try changing the spark plug.
As part of my problem solving I did check that there was spark and had put in a new set of NGK's. When getting to around 100mph the bike just didn't want to go any quicker.
The dyno showed that I had a faulty plug as every now and again there was no spark!! The bike was making 33bhp... Changed the plug for another new one and then made 58bhp. Probably not the same problem with yours but thought I'd mention it.

Re: ahhhhhhhhhh bugger
As a matter of course, swapped out my plugs, leads and caps.
I had an issue during a race where a HT lead came loose, and gave the exact same symptoms, I have now cable tied all the connections to stop it reoccuring.

right
spent another whole day on the bike fron hell striped an cleaned carbs again they are so clean now you could hold medical instruments in them they are that sterile
changed plug caps took them off me fzr race bike another set of new plugs, chainged the plug leads about an also took a cap off to kill a cylinder at a time this did make a differance but not to the good gave it another compresion test (ok) then i got pissed off an did some work on me new blade
(at least that loves me
)
what i have noticed is the exhaust pipes get hot very quick so im thinking has the ign timming gone to pot is this adjustable as ive no bible to look at or the cdi has has had a musslim suicide bomber let himself off in it
im getting close to getting this advetised in the forsale section but not befor i have fixed it or it has fuc£ed me

Re: ahhhhhhhhhh bugger
just a FYI ignition timing never changes has not way to change unless you mod the pickup same with cam timing unless it sounds like a bunch of bolts in your top end then the cam timing has not changed either they rarely jump time and again you would notice your cam chain loose while idling it would sound like the valves are loose and as you rev the bike up the loose sound sorta goes away then comes back when idling due to when you give it gas it takes some of the slack out of the chain.
