hi recently brought a 3jt1 1990 fzr400 to restore, having few carb issuses, currently are stripped and have been ultra sonic cleaned as bike ran when i brought it but was rich, all the main jets are standard 100/97.5???, but the needles are numbered 5CFZ4 not sure if these are right as new ones i have brought were listed as fzr 600/400 had to be changed as were wore,it currently has a full stainless system (not branded) standard yamaha filter(new) just after bit of help as i want to get it running before other work starts, bike is also going to put on dyno as its at the dyno shop

Hi there
Welcome to the forum.
Have a look at the very top of this page and see the link for document library. Have a look in the fzr part and download the setup manual, dont worry about it being an SP manual it still has settings that will be a good ball park for you to start with.
Its difficult to say what could be the right settings but with no exup I'd say it will need to be richer than standard.

The same carbs are used in the Suzuki 400s and you will find a lot of posts over there complaining about the same carburettors. The seals in the Mikuni BDST carbs should be considered a service item if you are intent on using Nitrile, what the standard parts are made from. Many owners seem to think that their seals should last 25 years and then post onto web forums asking how to change their jetting to compensate for their rotten carb seals. I address some of these issues here:

So you got all 7 parts for each carb for less than 8 Pounds a set including shipping. That sounds good. Can you advise what you paid for each part?
cheers
