Fuel pump on my nc30....?

Thinking of fitting a fuel pump to the vfr...sure lots of racers out there have done it...what's the best bike to steel one from and where when how'd you do it....I take it that it would act as a tap too, turning off the ignition would stop the flow? I have a tap issue. Did the hrc mod and now worry with the bike not being used all the time its more likely to flood as its stood. I keep it turning over etc but.... Not wanting to brake her cause the oils knackered. She's got a few mods so was thinking that a pump might be next...

ZXR or FZR id say but is it really worth the hassle for something you dont need? I ran a stage 3 RLR motor with stock induction and fuel tap on the road and never had any fuel issues so unless your running 140+ mains i cant see the point.

Agree with Tony - no point at all - it is not really a "mod" to do that gives you performance at all..and it adds weight and complexity in place of a well proven system.
If worried about the tap - fit a dry break and disconnect the tank

Its running basically no air filter with hrc lid, hrc springs from rick o, adjustable needles and ram air i guess, no snorkel but there is a clear path for the air until i pull my finger out....mains are going to be up there once dyno'd hence the pump came into my thoughts....no engine tuning but the day will come once the twins are a bit older!!

not quite ram air then - unless the box is pressurised and then I can see that a pump might be useful.
get it dyno'd and ride the fucker! See whether the need for it is there,, rather than the want

I kinda agree but have also thought about putting a fuel pump on mine, even though it is not ram air.
It runs open HRC carbs with tray and drilled carb top plate, 145 & 147.5 mains and runs fine with the HRC tap mod, its track only so runs for longer periods at WO throttle than a road bike maybe would, and it doesn't suffer any fuel starvation problems.
However, this is only if i run it with a fairly full tank, if the tank gets lowish (I'm not talking about less than a ltr left I mean anything below 1/2 full) then it seems to start running like crap at the top end, I put this down to there being less head in the tank pushing the fuel to the carbs.
This means that I always run the bike above 1/2 full, which isnt ideal for racing when most people run 2-3ltrs max. Now I grant you in the grand scheme of things I would be just as slow full tank or not, but the fact is a pump would mean i could run with a lot less weight up high.
But I do agree, get on it ride it and see if you suffer any problems, if you just like tinkering though then bash on and take lots of pics so I can copy you as I am rubbish electrically so a step by step would be very handy!!

HRC lid as in the RVF airbox lid? is this your 2 bro's road bike were talking about?
To back up what hodge says, in the notes i have for the tony scott motor it does say either keep tank topped up above half way or use a fuel pump.

I've got rvf carbs but no plastic tray blocking the front off.Bought a hrc copy lid which sits down into the gap at the front where the tray would be but not right out of the front. So there will be air forced straight in via thin foam. so yes ram air i guess just without a long snorkel. Can't ride it as the forks are still being modified at the moment. Whilst its apart again just thought I might do some bits toward tracking the thing after all that's gone into it. Can't leave it sat in the garage

The rvf hrc lid isn't ram air, it's for the hrc setup funnily enough
Personally mate if your going to use that box buy the hrc needles and jets then atleast your going to have a working base setup to start from.
