Right, i've brought some NC30 forks for my NC24 as NC35 ones were far too expensive for the amount of money i'm willing to throw at this project.

From what i've read the 1989K model uses forks that are not as good as the later models which use 41mm showa cartridge forks if i'm right?

These are the forks i've brought, I was told they were off an 1994 L reg model, how can I tell the difference without taking them to pieces as they've just been rebuilt with new seals and oil so don't really want to mess with them..



Just gotta sort out the speedo drive now as the NC24 drives off the wheel, the 30 drives off the sprocket :/

From what i've read you can just pop the dust seal on the CBR900's when using a 94 - 97 wheel on a 93/94 model so i'm hoping it will be somethign similar.

Just gotta decide on what wheel to use now, ^_^

the 89 forks didnt have preload adjustment on the top of the forks this is the only difference i think in term sof apearance

They did have preload adjustment only

The later model forks have the brass rebound adjuster as well as preload.

They look like the newer forks as far as I can see. The 1989 forks were a damping rod fork and work very well as I have them on my bike

oh right, from what I read on I think it was v-source was that the newer forks were better than the 89 model? :S

the cartridge forks are also very good - they are a fundamentally better design. just that my forks feel better than many others I have tried.

get them serviced, new oil and the like and they will be great :D

Ah I see... they've just been rebuilt so they should be ok :)

I'll report back when i've got them on the bike as I wanna do a write up for the other NC24 owners.

Issues

* Gotta move the fusebox as it's attatched to the 24 yokes.
* Speedo drive runs off the whele on the 24 rather than the sprocket, sprocket covers are exchangable but i'm fitting the hydraulic clutch
* Bars go below the top yoke on the 30, above the top yoke on the 24 so cables should all be long enough.
* Not sure if 24 switchgear will fit on the 30 bars so we'll see... will be using the 30 bars though as the 24 has 37mm forks as opposed to the 41mm NC30 forks.
* still undecided on what wheel to use, not sure if the NC24's discs will line up with the NC30 calipers, so using the 24 wheel as a stop-gap until I sort the speedo and rubber out for the NC30 wheel might not be possible.
