Over the winter I am going to spend some moolah on the bike. I'm not going mad so here is my list:

Suspension upgrade
Sort out exhaust
Dyno time
Learn to ride it - track day

Ok the last one is going to be next spring the rest is for before then.

I purchased an RS250 shock from ebay, it hasn't arrived yet but I want to get it serviced before I fit it. Is this something I can do or something that should only be done by a professional? What does a service require, I have heard that a shock service requires gas/seals/springs etc)? It is not a height adjustable one, I wanted to do this on a budget, is that of any relevance?

I'll get some pictures of my exhaust later as I can't really ask questions yet, it's a bit tricky to explain. Basically I don't think it's standard but it is currently too loud for a track.

I'm based in Surrey, anyone here know a good place for getting some dyno time?

EDIT - With the early nights drawing in, I need to check my lighting situation. I have noticed before that if a road is not lit my lights are dreadful - I know that the Jap spec bikes have low watt bulbs. Is there an easy way to see if a previous owner has made any changes to the lighting circuits to take UK (H4?) bulbs? I know there is a mod to make this possible which I will do if someone hasn't already done it. I know that the bulb fixtures haven't been changed as the bulbs in there currently have the 'folded tab' method to make them fit.

I'm just near the surrey/hampshire border and looking to get some dyno time too - Been looking at Dynotech (01256 881711) near Basingstoke but also heard of a place over near Wokingham. - Just looked it up - BigCC racing 01189 776744

tbh you are probly wasting your money on the rs250 shock I looked at doing this but by the time you buy the shock then get a new spring for your weight.and get it serviced and revalved you could have bought a decent make of aftermarket shock.just my thoughts on it..I just happen to have a maxton rear shock and a set of later type front forks for sale with hyperpro springs and ktech internals..I raced this season on this set up and the bike handled superbly..

It'd be interesting, I know the Hagon Monoshock is about £220.00

Yeah that would be awesome, when the forums were first released I made a thread for posting links to sites and the link but it never took off.

I found a seller on ebay who offers a shock service service:

Anyone used them? The service seems fairly complete and they offer a service for any make of shock.

Give Kais suspension a call on 01942886311 and speak to Nick or Andy White,
they are the dogs at reworking shocks and good on price too, i use Kais for all my race bikes and they can transform a stock shock into an `as good as` ohlins item without the fine adjustment depending on your shock.And they give good support with any problems or advice afterwards...
