I am looking into getting a race MFD for my track bike, but lately I seem to hear a lot of negative things about Koso. So, my question is this....if not Koso, then what should I get?

Most complaints were in wiring the gauge. The instructions are vague, they can't get it to work, etc etc, bitch, moan, complain...

You have to remember that a lot of peopel these days cant do anything without baby instructions,and even then half of them still cant do it.

If you have a copy of the NC30 wiring loom diagram then its not difficult to wire up.

Friends had one for a couple of years and it seems ok, bike is kept in all weather too, thats about the extent of my involvement with them sorry its not muc more

Was it a Koso on an NC30?

Most of them have user configuarble options such as "divide by 2 / 4 / 8" etc fo the number of coils.

Most I4s use a wasted spark the same as an NC30 so they should all work in that sense, some odd bikes like the VFR750 / NC24 which have 4 separate coils might not have a configuration option on some makes of digi tacho.

The next issue some suffer is trying to get an actual signal to the tacho unit.

Many can just be wrapped around the plug lead to get the signal, this can be flakey if the wrapping / placement isnt good, best to secure in a good found location with some tape.

Other times you can take a tap off the coil feed wire.

Ive helped peopel do both (one bike had coil on plug stick type coils, so took a feed from the wire)

depending on plug leads it can be a little fiddley, and if you wire it up wrong you will probably blow it up but with some time and fettling it shouldnt be too difficult.

Koso seems one of the better known brands

I used a lead from the coil to get my SPA gauges working. I figure if I can wire them, the Koso might not be a big deal. Perhaps these other people are just retarded...

That wasn't a certain person from Scotland with a cheap Chinese copy one on a badly painted and much abused NC30 was it (Possibly not a good representation of your 'averadge person' if so)
