FZR 400 rr was this project a mistake ?
I bought a fzr 400rr 3tj the other week as a working project (good bargain) and I've had nothing but a nightmare. when i pull away from a stop it splutters then picks up and is fine but oh when it warms up ahhhhh i have to rev it around 8000rpm (embarrassing) other wise it stumbles around 2-3000rpm and when i let off the throttle it dies
Heres a list of the things ive tryed with no improvement
Changed : plugs, cleaned and oiled KnN air filter, oil filter, oil( castrol magnatec 10w/40 p synth), fuel filter
Cleaned carbs
Balanced carbs
I think ive got a leak on the downpipe
And i still have to rev it above 8000 rpm to take off otherwise it hesitates at around 2-3000 rpm and if i ease off the throttle it dies
Its evident when i first start riding ( when cold) but when it heats up OMG i feel like walking
Can somebody please help please im close to insanity !!!!

Chris that may be the fuel pump priming.
It's a shame i know so little about the FZR or would offer to help being local and all. My skills are honed on the Honda V4's though

The exup servo should make a sound like this (24 seconds in):-chris6409 wrote:Yeh when i turn the key i hear a faint robotic noise lol

From what you are describing, it sounds like the EXUP is stuck.

You're listening for the weep weep noise not the ticking of the fuel pump.
See the chrome cover in the video ? take that off and you'll see a pulley, turn on the ignition and it should move backwards and then return forwards.
