Tyre advice please :)
So I'm new to the forum as have only just puchased a FZR400 1WG but seeing as it has the 18' rear tyre i'm confused as to what tyres are best to put on the bike.
I've had a look on ebay and only three of them seem suitable for the bike which are Pirelli Sport Demons, Avon Roadriders and the Bridgestone BT045 although i've never liked bridgestones
anyone got any idea whats best to stick on the bike as it will be used on the track alot as well so needs to be really grippy :)

Re: Tyre advice please :)
For track use ... change the rear wheel to a 17"
It might sound dramatic but if you really want trackday / track tyres that's what's going to be best. If you use a swingarm and wheel from a TRX850 / FZR600R etc then you'll get a 160 profile in which is suported by lots of manufacturers. Kayla can probably advise you on what machining work needs to be done and sort you out with spacers.
You might want to find out the exact model of FZR400 you have;
No air intakes, No exup valve = Genesis (1986 -87)
No air intakes, Exup valve single seat = 2TK SP (1987)
Air intakes above the headlights, Exup valve = 3EN1 (1988) Speed restricted
Air intakes below the headlights, Exup valve = 3EN2 (1989) Speed restricted

Be best to put a front end on the too, that way you can usa a 3.5" front wheel with a 120/70 front to work with the 160 back.

Re: Tyre advice please :)
I can go one better than advising, I just happen to have a(nother) complete rear end from a 3TJ lying on the workshop floor, already modified to fit a 1WG... Oh, and a full (rebuilt with new seals and oil) 41mm front end from a 3EN2 with a 3.5" 3TJ front wheel. The wheels even match

How much would you be wanting for it mate, and how much work was required to get it to fit onto the 1WG?
