I had the bike running for about 3-4 minutes ad the front right hand side pipe was hot but not the left. And same goes for one rear downpipe. Does this mean that these cylinders are not firing? It was shooting flames which im guessing is unburnt fuel. And if so what should i start with. Spark plugs? Thanks connor

Cheers for the reply. Pulled out spark plugs. Cleaned them up and then got a spark again. Fire the bike up. Sounded likr it was running better for a small time then back to two pipes not heating up. The carbs are needing set up properly. Could this be the culprit?

Blocked pilot circuit, shagged plugs or both

right ill check spark plugs once more. got a few spare so may try them. if not is it off withbthe carbs?

Been here, done it, got the t shirt. This exact problem happened to me on my last project bike.

I tried swapping over plugs, testing coils, HT leads, carb clean, valve tolerances, CDI....

Turned out to be a blocked pilot circuit, as previously mentioned.

Check your spark, if thats good, when was the last time you serviced your carbs, maybe they need doing? Pilot circuit is hard to get to, compressed air works best after a squirting session of carb/intake cleaner.

hi alex. pulled out spark plugs again. they were fouled and got no spark so got spare ones and cleaned them up. Got spark. And am now waiting for battery to charge so i can try one more time. tbh have not touched carbs. except from removing to get at the restrictors. Do i need to remove the carbs or can i take them apart while they are still on the engine? And is there a thread to show me how to clean them out. im pretty useless with this. And one more question. i am hopefully going to run a tyga maggot on the nc30. and notice you used this to. Any modification a need to make to the carbs to get it running properly. Also have a yamamoto half system fitted. Sorry for all the questions and your help is hugely appreciated.

If you're looking to inspect/clean the pilot circuit then the carbs need to come off.

Cammo created a guide, which I believe is a sticky thread in the V4 workshop section.

Generally if you're running a half system at the moment and its running well, then the maggot won't throw your fuelling out. It's a real racket, I would advise against one.

right ill give the carbs a go thanks alot. and tbh been considering flogging the maggot, as it sits to low for the hanger. ill have a look at the exhaust thread also and see what other options i have. cheers mate!

ok so cammo suggested using a larger jet size for aftermarket exhaust systems. will have a look to see if mine are standard while in there. should i replace the jet size for a half system do you think?

ill take the carbs to work tommorow and give them a good blast with the air gun. ill make a wee start now.
