Was just about to start putting the motor back together when i noticed a crack in the cam chain guide and then soon discovered it had snapped and only hanging on by the rubber.

It doesn't look like its replaceable without splitting the cases which i really dont want to do so any suggestions or am i going to have to bite the bullet and dig deeper into the motor?

If it's the rear one then it's captive and can only be replaced by splitting the cases

				Just as i thought, BOLLOX!
Decision time, either get busy and split the cases or fit the 600 engine in time for cadwell in august

If you can find the part then it should just be time and the sealant.

Are they not available new then? It's the type of part I'd prefer to buy new if possible rather than risk a 2nd part

You can do a 600 engine in a day or two so you've got plenty of time

				At least you spotted it!
It could have locked the engine engine up while flat on the tank in 6th........

I might have one you are welcome to for postage cost.

Yep that could have been nasty, probably wouldn't have spotted it if I didn't remove the cylinders which I only did as a matter of precaution after fixing a stripped spark plug thread.
If you have one let me know cheers pal
