Cam cover gaskets

Has anyone had any leaking issues when reusing cam cover gaskets. mine look in good condition and still soft, but with the angle of the V i'm a bit worried about leaking after reuse.

I did on the nc35... The rear started leaking right after a valve check (front was fine). I replaced the gasket and now all is well. My suggestion would be to reuse them then replace if needed...

As long as it is still nice and flexible, it should be fine. I bought a pair for when I did mine a few months back assuming the fitted ones would be brittle, but they were still soft. Just make sure you clean the gasket and the mating surfaces to make sure nothing gets stuck in there and they shouldn't leak. If they are cracked and/or going like old liquorice, then check them away.

I cant be 100% accurte without checking the manual, which you can downoad from the document library but I believe they are able to be resued.
I have re-sued them before, Ive had them leak also but if they do leak its never been a dramatic leak, only a mild drip.

I've reused them, but sometimes a thin smear of silicone on them helps, and i mean a thin tiny bit not a tube full!!!!!!!
Cheers

Yes, somewhat remarkably in this world where almost everything gasket-like has the instruction to throw away regardless of condition, this one is an inspect and replace if necessary one. Just as well, given the cost!

It does make logical sense though.
cam cover removal is routine due to valve clearance adjustment, makes sense to have a resuable gasket, probably why its more expensive than some of the others.
Most other gaskets are cheaper but one time use as they often crush / deform into place, which isnt so much an issue as they are not usually removed as part of routine maintance.

Thing is, the timing inspection cover o-ring says chuck away doesn't it? lol

Yes it does. I won't be replacing that either, it looks ok too.

Where do you read that from?
Section 8 of the service manual doesnt mention it, only to apply molygrease to the timing hole seal and threads which is what I have always done.
Section 1-14 torque info also says to apply moly oil to this part.
