Quick question for those who can tell me more about them and/or have experiences with them used....I am talking about exhaust heat wrap band. To put around exhaust pipes. What a the pros and cons on our little faired bikes? If there is any of course (them of course not being sneaky filthy rattle bikes etc. but nice modern little v4 machines).
Share your thoughts...

The benefit is to retain exhaust gas heat, which improves its exit. Actual performance would negligible. Downside is overheating your expensive pipes that can lead to premature failure. Leave it on the shelf.

Pros, hotter gasses exiting and "exciting the speed of flow"

Cons, when wet it can prematurely rot the pipes

-

when fitting wet the wrap and WEAR gloves youll itch for days jas, and allow the pipes to dry naturally it will be ok first time around but the rotting will occur with the salty road water etc.

so id only wrap if your not using the bike for comutting and save for track days etc

also I used lock wire to keep it in place,

I used it on my racebike, it certainly kept a lot of heat in the exhaust. I held it on with lockwire. I'm really not sure of the performance benefits, but if anything it doesn't scorch your legs so much on a hot day at the track!

Okay guys, thanks for the feedback. I done my research and I also spoken with a few chaps I know them racing bikes and cars. Still interested in second opinion hence my topic start here. Benefits for track days (with running engines in high revs) are by far for most racers a plus, but not for the normal roads. I only had some ideas for the front down pipes and not for the rest of the system in titanium. Though it can be done on titanium too. Rust is one of my fears due to the exhaust wrapping possible holding condens/water/filth so that puts me off. Heat from the front pipes is not an issue for me. I'd better rethink my thoughts and pennies for "other things" on my list :peace:
