nc30 cold start probs

Post by vthumper »

Hi folks , So after 10 and a few yrs of passing my test and having my first big bike the awesome nc24(was to me anyway)
thought would be nice to have another 400 and a 2nd bike sitting next to mille. obvious choice nc30 :P
And after alot of grinning and reliving my youth alittle, have discovered a fault with my new purchase.
I know these things are not great on cold start and full choke is needed, but mines is flooding with the choke
only way to get it going , is wind it over no choke no throttle it spins over igniting and eventually feed it abit of throttle
and starts to revs, but as i say touch the choke at any, it stops coughing and farting and just floods.
Started daily it starts and revs no probs, leave a week and its a pig to get going again. so before i replace the carbs, has
anyone had this know or what its ? Any advice appreciated  it did get a set plugs just before i bought it.
cheers.

Theres a carb setup guide as a sticky thread.

No point replacing the carbs if they are not broken. Often these bikes suffer from messer syndrome and go faster mods.

If you check the setup properly and match the guide above it should run like clockwork

Welcome.

As Neo said - once you realised that Honda got it right and 20yrs of idiots trying make it better made it worse you will not go far wrong!

Set it up standard and it will be fine.

Be wary that flooding will kill the very fragile plugs so you may have to factor that in and be prepared to get some more
