Racing a 3EN2
Just out of curiousity more than anything else really. I think I've sold my 3TJ 4/6 PI600 race bike and have a 3EN2 4/6 ready built to use instead. I was wondering how people have got on with the 1WG over the 3TJs. The 18" rear wheel isn't an issue any more so lets not discuss that old chestnut

Re: Anyone racing a 1WG?
What about walnuts ?
They don't have as much fat as other nuts and the look like small brains
You can't do anything about the overall design so I'd look at the suspension, put a different front end on it, R6 or R1 but as always try to get something as light as possible. Later R1's had a steeper fork angle .... I Porter on PB Forum was looking to do some adjustable yokes. It will give you a 120 front on a 3.5 rim which will work well with the 160 rear.
Light wheels.

Re: Anyone racing a 1WG?
There are a bunch of 1WGs coming out of the woodwork and returning to racing over here in the US. Due to Bridgestone giving up on making sticky 18" rubber there is a bunch of discussion on 17" rear swaps, one shop in the US has a kit to adapt SV650 rear wheels along with a lighter weight rear caliper that's gotten good reviews.
Other than that, there aren't enough 3TJs over here to really do a head to head comparison between the two. I was hoping to get a chance to go up against a 560 kitted 1WG that ran LRRS last year but I haven't seen it yet this year. The 1WG still has a good cult following, I can point you towards some US resources for info if you'd like.

I'm hoarding 3TJ wheelsMorespeedvicar wrote:Go on then have have you got round the old chestnut? lol

We've put 3TJ wheels in the 3EN2 Akai rep bike we built and I'm going to use that instead of the 3TJ. No f-er wants to buy it so I might as well use it!

Re: Anyone racing a 1WG?
The USA generally call the Genesis model 1WG, we also got the 3EN models which have a slightly different frame, the 3EN2 had a different front end with 41mm forks and 298mm disks.Kurlon wrote:There are a bunch of 1WGs coming out of the woodwork and returning to racing over here in the US. interesting, perhaps i should read the rulesKayla850 wrote:I'm hoarding 3TJ wheelsplus the only rule in PI600 seems to be 'production based carburated engine'- there's no stipulation that it has to be in the original frame, opening the door to all sorts of front and rear end swap based shenanigans!

Re: Anyone racing a 1WG?
I'm only going off the North East club's regs (I asked when I joined) and Derby Phoenix (I rang them to check it'd be ok because the North East club is 'guesting' at Croft in August). Other clubs might be different but NG have a 600 'open' class with no specific rule to say you can't use a 4/6, you can run a one in Bemsee Thunderbikes and pretty much any club will have a class a hybrid is eligible for.yamtastic wrote:interesting, perhaps i should read the rulesKayla850 wrote:I'm hoarding 3TJ wheelsplus the only rule in PI600 seems to be 'production based carburated engine'- there's no stipulation that it has to be in the original frame, opening the door to all sorts of front and rear end swap based shenanigans!
It's more about what isn't specifically ruled out than the list of stuff that is specifically allowed
