Another bloody electric problem

My brake light isn't working. Front switch doesn't illuminate it, neither does the rear.
I put a spare unit on and it's the same.
I've had the entire arse end of the wiring loom apart tracing the brake light wire from the brake plug all the way to the red plug on the RHS of the bike, and nothing was wrong. No short, no bad connection, no nothing.
All the other lights work, just the brake light which isn't playing ball.
Anyone got any ideas before I rip apart the front end of the loom, or even worse, re-wire the fecking lot.

I assume you've checked the fuse?

Yep, even had the fuse box apart.
The brake light doesn't have a separate fuse anyway, it's included in the lighting fuse.

Do ther rear indicators work? I only ask as they're on the same connector as the rear light cluster when you remove the tail unit.
Maybe something is amiss in that connector?

Yeah they work, it's only the brake light that isn't. Even the sidelights in the rear unit work, just not the brake lights and the bulbs in my spare unit are perfectly fine, I checked.
It's really annoying me, so I'm going to bed and I'll be having another grumpy crack at it tomorrow.

Check power and ground at the connector with a meter, if it's good, then check it at the socket. I'm assuming you've checked the bulb?

I'll be getting my multimeter out later
The bulbs are fine, as are the LEDs in the rear unit I usually use.
Hope I find something today or I think I'll be stuck.

Have you checked that both the f/r switches are working.
I know that they will not both have failed at the same time, but the rear [say] could have failed a while ago without you noticing it, or anyone following you .

Just tested at the rear unit plug and when pushing the rear brake I'm getting about 4-5 volts and when using the front about 11-12 volts. Without using either its reading about a volt.
With my led unit the brake lights come on the tiniest bit, like a tiny orange glow compared to the bright red it should be. And with the bulb unit they don't work at all.
