Nice simple question. I have just received my new wavy front disc's, does anyone chamfer the slots in the disc ? The reason I ask is I remember reading some time ago about chamfering new discs because it is easier on your pads because their are no sharp edges....

I never did. They did totally and utterly eat the first set of pads I used as well...but that was no worries as they were Armstrong pads and they were totally crap.

I will be using EBC HH pads so do want to rip these up.

Pads are a consumable though..

I know but if helps prolong the pad life without effecting the braking performance then surely that's a good thing. I assume if it does rip the first set up then it must be affecting the performance.

I thought the whole point of the 'wavy' discs was the extra friction created by the increased contact with the leading edge of the waves? Wouldn't chamfering the edges defeat the point of wavy discs?

I just thought it was a bit of a weight saving/fashion thing!!!!

The real advantage is in gyroscopic effect being reduced, meaning the bike is easier to change direction with wavy discs as opposed to standard discs. Braking effect and power tends to be the same.
