Because I was forced to take bike off the road immediately after putting it back on due to knackered brake disc, I decided to overhaul the front brakes while I debated on new or used replacements, i made the mistake of removing the calipers and reservoir with its mount becuse they could do with a clean up as well, then thought fcuk how am i gonna remove the pistons form the callipers
ah I know if I plug the inlet with a bolt and use the bleed nipple with a stand up hand pump that should work, the first set of pistons came out nice and easy with out any probs but the second set well that was a total different ball game altogether needless to say it took about 2 hours if not more messing about but I'm not gonna get into that as it would probably take me an hour to type all the ways I tried
after eventually getting all the pistons out I decide the the tired old rough black paint had to go so with the old Brake fluid I stripped the paint the original colour had faded to a really dull gold and because I had some VHT gold calliper paint I decided they were getting a paint job, as i was in no rush and awaiting new nipples and reservoir bolts i did this over two days. Next with all the pistons removed they were cleaned gently with some very fine wire wool and fairy liquid just to remove some of the crap near the exposed lip, all the seals were removed and the recesses cleaned all heavy deposits removed with a set of bent circlip pliers and then dremmeled to remove the rest. Now time to put them back together nice and easy, seals were soaked in fresh brake fluid and a smear of fluid around the base of the each piston job done time to put callipers back together so I can wash and rinse and brake fluid that maybe on the outside of the callipers and getting onto new paint work. My new bits arrived today from David Silvers so of to my shed I go and put in the new nipples the I see the state of the calliper mounting bolts and think their gonna look terrible on the bike when everything is back together, gold discs, black calliper bolts gold calipers and rotten mounting bolts. Tell me if this is OTT but I decided to clean the bolts the I thought about the manky disc bolts oh god is this just to far am I taking this clean up a little to far so here's a few pics but I didn't do a before and after on the calliper.

I will some more pics as and when
