NC24 mystery hose?

Hi guys, can anyone offer their wisdom and help me identify the purpose of an open ended tube coming out from between my carbs on my new NC24. I'd assume the NC30 might be similar. Its not the fuel line at the top (I'm not quite that daft), its the one coming out from between the carbs and pointing at the rear pots. The bike seems a little hesitant and very low throttle i.e. just picking up from idle and I'm wondering if this hose might be a part of this although equally likely to be ill adjusted/manky pilot mixture/jets. All help gratefully received. Also see pic of my bike coz i know we all like shiny things lol.

It might be a breather for the carb diaphragms I suppose, is there another one near it? The 35 has one for each pair of carbs that come out the back when everything is assembled.

Its a breather hose from the carb slides, there should be two of them (one for front carbs one for rear).

On the nc21/24 they just vent to atmosphere, on the 30/35 they're plumbed back into the airbox to reduce emissions and restrict dirt and dust wearing the carb slides.

None at all, thats how it was designed.

The NC30 went overboard with a filter, but in reality ive never seen an NC24 suffer from dirt in the carb sliders
