fancy doing this over the winter but is it a strait swap or is there more work to be done to fit it to a nc30

i now you have to use the nc30 spring but what else is needed, im guessing the shock would probably need an overhaul beofre fitting, how much does this usually cost?

are rs250 shocks cheep? (cant find any on ebay)
are all rs250 shock the same?
and how adjustable are they?

iv replaced a rear shock before so that bit wont be a problem, is the nc30 an easy bike to replace the shock on?

I did this exact job a few weeks ago and found it pretty easy. There are a few things you have to do to make the rs shock fit and they are:
1. Widen top mount of original shock.(easily done with large adjustable wrench)
2. Narrow bottom linkage by 2-3mm.(slow going with a file)
3. Change spring( I used a 850lb spring to stiffen it up a bit)

The shock I got was adjustable for rebound, compression and preload and used a remote
reservoir which I mounted to the sub frame with a hose clamp and some rubber. If you
can pick up a shock off a rs250 cup bike they also come with adjustable ride height but
they are hard come by.

I picked up the shock for £70 and then another £15 on the spring so its a cheap enough
mod and Ive done a trackday since and noticed a nice difference although alot of that may have been due to the heavier spring. But overall Im happy with it

There are 3 on e-bay at the moment. I think I picked one up for less than £50 and spring from a guy on here, it makes a big difference to a saggy old one! :D

Pretty sure that post '97 RS250s have ride height adjustable shocks. Worth looking for one of them.

ooo there's one i fancy (the race one) and it has a stiffer spring with it, would this be suitable and not need a new spring for my nc30? (i emailed him to find the stiffness but not reply yet)

Unlikely to be ok if it's only been fitted to a 250.
I have an 800lb one on mine which is ok, 850 would probably be better. :D (too many pies recently...)

I use an 875 on mine and it is bob on. A great little mod and cna be done for cheap enough. I paid £50 for my shock and another £90 getting it regassed, new oil, fresh seals and a new spring. sorted.

They are all longer than stock so I think the ride height adjustability is not essential.

well im only 9 1/2 stone at the best of times (not a pie person :D ) so what size stiffness would be best for me?

the race unit looks nice and is a white power unit, would this still need regassing and re-valving? it looks mint

It'll still need a work over to suit the NC30 - at least re-gassing. Although it seems a lot of people just run them with a different spring. Mixed results though. I seem to recall some weeping with the increased load.

yeh my mate is sponsored by them for his mx2 racing and he is not allowed to call them white power when he goes over to america, they dont have a problem with it in europe
