Fiberglass Gel coat options?

So, I have some spangly fiberglass fairing now adapted to fit, bloke who made them said I may want to get them lacqured before I ride with them on.
Was wondering the consequences of stickering up and riding without lacquer ? More of a time issue than anything
Cheers

UV damage from the sun (even when cloudy) will make the surface powdery and will no protect the panels that will eventually become fragile/brittle so for what its worth even a quick spray with rattlecan of satin paint will suffice until you have more time or money

Well I'm happy with the colour it is, my plan to save money was to get it stickered up with the vinyls I had made and have it lacqured by a sprayers nearby, will this work or create more problems in future?

More problems as ill imagine the gel coat will go dusty/powdery

So let me get this right, your plan is to apply stickers to the gel coat and lacquer over them? Your not expecting this to look good then?

During the lacquering process or later on due to UV damage?

That's a bit unnecessary isn't it? Yes that is the plan, the colour of the gel coat is right, I couldn't see the benefit of having it sprayed the same colour before applying vinyl s and getting it lacqured . . . Hence the thread asking this question . . .

Gel coat is just that, its a smooth final surface to which you paint onto, its not a final surface for the outside world.

Unnecessary? i dont follow you.
When you say gel coat, does it have a shinny finish or is it a matt kinda dusty finish?

Its been a long day, and i've worked really hard on this bike, your comment didn't feel very encouraging. And Shiny finish, very glossy indeed
