It's a late model I believe - the one with the twin headlights behind a shield of plastic, twin square rear lights.

It's taken out two rectifiers within the last couple of years, but the biggest problem seems to be it cutting out when warm. Carbs have been ultrasonically cleaned and the charging system seems to be okay. I believe it doesn't take much to get it started again, but sounds a little like the fuel vapourisation issue my RVF once suffered from.

Are there any known issues with this model of GSXR? I can relay possible causes on to her to see whether she's tried them already - she's not a member of the forum yet (but I'm working on it).

Have you had the stator outputs checked? Also, long spells of inactivity can reduce the lifespan of a reg/rec. I find that if a bike is to be laid up for any decent length of time, it is better to remove the battery completely rather than just plug in a trickle charger. If it needs to stay in for alarm, etc. just unplug the reg/rec.

The cutting out could be coil packs failing at temperature or dodgy HT leads/plugs.

As above, sounds like something breaking down or possibly bad connections.

look at main connections (red or orange) also check pulse pickup, they break where the wires come out from the L/H engine case and can cause similar problems.

mine was the pulse pick up coil fault. always cut off when engine hot n running. after changing the coil, its running good again. it even made my plugs wet with fuel.
