Worn needle jet guides

Hi all,anyone know what I can do with worn needle jet guides? on my Nc35,Had it dyno'd recently and the guy told me its running rich from 2500rpm up to 5800rpm running all standard jets and induction.. Any advice will be well received. Cheers

That's so low down in the rev range I personally wouldn't be concerned at all. It's pretty normal too.

The needle guides on rvf carbs aren't replaceable parts so if you want to fix the issue you'd need to replace your carbs. You could adjust the carbs to compensate for the problem (adjusting the float heights to be higher than stock), but really it'd be causing further fuelling problems in other rpm ranges and is just masking the issue.

Did the dyno operator take the carbs apart to verify what was inside? Or have you done this?

Only asking because many people assume all is standard until they open them up and actually see what previous owner's have done to them. Also, usually the needles will show signs of wear before the guides (and are obviously replaceable).

Any chance you can post a pic of the dyno chart up?

I've had carbs off and they have 108 mains,35 pilot and standard needles,got a art race can on a standard system and dyno shows 58.31bhp and 25.75ft lbs :-)

Well 58 is about right to be fair, how does the bike ride? any flatspots? does it bog down at all?

It rides ok,doesn't bog down,I'm new to whole improving the performance thing,apart from exhaust!what can I do to improve it,it's mainly road use..I use it for,got my eye on a nitron rear shock and I'm thinkn of the giver flywheel mod,any experience of that what are the benefits,is it a cost effect mod? Any advice would be greatly received. Cheers :-)

If the engine has no flat spots and you're getting 58bhp for a road bike I'd leave it alone unless you want a fancy exhaust system.

As for the flywheel mod, it's expensive but it totally transforms the bike, I've got one and it revs up so freely and pulls so clean.

Suspension and tyres are probably the best area to spend money on most bikes :peace:

Thanks for the advice,me thinks I'll definitely go with the flywheel mod first :grin: then shock probably nitron and a tyga system.. Is it better goin for a twin stack or not is there any benefit over a 4-2-1 system? :P

Gixer k7 flywheel it's a lot lighter than the standard Honda one...

Is that a straight bolt on or will it need to be modified?
