Hey guys, haven't posted in a long while, thought i'd post my endevours.
Picked the bike up over a year and a have ago as a non runner....The bike has started while i've owned it but not very well.
Sent the carbs off to stripes....when I got them back tbh , it was leaking fuel, must've been a stuck float, so left it.
I left it for way too long and when I attempted to fire her up again, it wouldn't turn over
Water was in the cylinders.

This is how one of the pistons looked



I then left the bike again for a period of time......The only reason really being, i didn't know how one of the cam chain guide goes in
The other day I had a closer look and like VV says it just slots in, what confused me was, one of them sits higher than the other, I thought they'd be the same hieght lol

Eerrrrrr correct me if i'm wrong!



So i've now ordered a head gasket, which I expect to get after the weekend

Decieded to do the rear shock swap which i've read being done...I already had a k6 thou one, so that's what I went with.

Not a lot of clearance but when i hooked everything up, was a bit more satisfied



My only real concern is the rear of the shock, between the shock and swinging arm;





Just doesn't look a lot to me I'm sure given enough force it will touch......any one else had this issue?!

Dont want to worry you but your new shock looks a fair bit longer .Dont know how that would effect the handling of the bike . Ive just picked up a k7 750 shock and looks to be same length as the original.

Yea thanks mate....I'm guessing you're right.
It does seem pretty close, especially when you compress the suspension!
Once i get the engine in and running, i'll see how she goes, otherwise I mat get the standard one refurbished....thanks!

Need some help guys.

Haven't got the manual and need to know if the head bolts need replacing for new ones?

Also what torque setting should they be tightened at?

And in what sequence?

I Got told to follow the Bandit 400 manual for instructions/torque settings ect,

I would wait for somebody to confirm this though before you work,

Also, one of my head bolts, whilst torquing, shredded, thankfully had a spare set lying round from another engine.

FWIW, I ALWAYS fit new head bolts regardless every time a head is taken off. Once torqued they stretch a tiny amount so you can't get a proper uniform torque when you re-use them.

Thanks for the reply's guys...haven't been on here for awhile, life gets in the way.

A little progress.........Engines all buttoned up, with new head gasket and back in frame.









Must say it's good to see the bike with the engine in........Will be giving the carbs a going over, not that I know what I'm doing
