Fork seals

Bit of a long winded one this so i apologise in advance, thanks for taking the time to read it if you did though :)
Right, i bought a cibber nc23 last month, everything is mint on it except the fork seals are leaking, which i knew before i bought it and the bloke had bought a spare pair of forks so he gave me them.
So bought some new seals and dust seals (pyramid, not genuine, which i think is my first mistake), fitted them to the spare forks. I followed the haynes manual instructions and pulled the forks apart (which came apart very easily, too easy i think). Swapped the forks over on the bike so the spare pair with me seals/fluid was on the bike, didnt have a pump to set the sag so just left it. Pretty much straight away the forks started pissing out again.
Now heres the problem, i cant split the other forks (ones that came on the bike originally) they just refuse to come apart, so is there a way i could leave the forks together and get the seal out somehow, i was thinking of driving some large self tapper screws through the old seals then yanking on the screws with vise grips to pull the seals out. Is it ok to replace seals this way? I'll be going genuine this time.
Out of interest does anyone know why my forks wont split? only thing i can think is top bush is seized into the fork bottoms......?
