For an NC21 or an NC24?
There differet.
The NC24 the valve is part of the fork cap and should be part number 51450-ML0-721 which you can still order from David Silvers but there 48 quid each.
The NC21 has a separate air-valve (removable) 51456mf5752 but its no longer available from anywhere I can find, but if you do find any in stock the rrp is 18 quid..

I know my bike is a parts bike (made from various ) others so the fork are an unkown quantity but I assumed they where of one of the 2 earlier VFR models they have adjustable dive, and a valve at the top that enables them to be pumped up with a bicycle pump, my thoughts where could I just use a 8mm tyre valve ?

I have no idea what you mean.
Do you mean the valve core is leaking or the actual valve is busted

Not quite when I originally removed the forks from the bike last year for a rebuild I used a rubber mallet to release them from the bike (to drop them through the yokes!)
Unfortunately I damaged one of the top fork valves and it started leaking, it's a bolt type arrangement with a tyre valve type thing in the middle!
It's currently pluged by use of a bolt with a o ring seal but I'd like to use the air valve again to adjust the damping!
I'll take some pics of the other side if your still not sure what I'm talking about :D

In understand how its busted now.
The nc21 vavle is no longer available so if you want a direct fit replacement youll have to get one from a bike being broken
