I think I learnt more from the replies than he did!
That's why my crap, badly running £800 NC30 is now on the button, and waiting for the panels to come back from the painters, and soon to be ready for a summer of hooliganism!
So Cheers guys!

i am still here. i was about to send off carbs and plugs and cdi's to ricky, but before i sent it off, i decided to clean the carbs and check the floats myself, and try it one last time. and that last time. the bike fired up, but it struggled a lot for the first start up.
but the important thing is, it started. now it fires up first time every time. now all i got to do, is put everything back on, and get it MOT'd

Ersan good luck hope you get your carbs sorted ok . I take it you had the decency to let pornodog know that you had decided to press on yourself was a kind offer

thanks, yes of course. but i got the bike running actually. just before sending it off, i wanted to clean it myself and check the floats myself, after doing so the bike started...took a while, but it started. not it starts on the click everytime, so i wont be sending the stuff anymore, but i am still sending the broken plug as i promised since he wants it for an adapter of some sorts.

Good news Earsan I also hope you have better luck with the MOT and get the bike ready for the good weather.
a couple of things to remember from the various threads in the past:
DO NOT just keep starting the bike for short periods on the driveway. This will just kill your plugs, thus making the bike hard to start and in turn draining your battery. The bike
HAS TO get up to propper operating temperature to burn the crap of the plugs.
DO check all your wiring runs/plugs and connectors whilst you have the tank/fairings off. A squirt of electrical contact cleaner in each plug followed by a blow out and a squirt of WD40 before ensuring they are 'properly' reconnected. Check the wiring loom / cables and put some electrical tape on any worn or exposed areas to stop any potential shorts or ingress of moisture. Finaly secure the wiring loom/cables with cable ties or even tape, to make sure they do not bounce around while you are driving, potentialy giving those awfull "intermitent" faults which are a royal pain in the arse to try and diagnose. This whole thing should take no more than about an hour and will potentialy solve or prevent
MANY problems.
Once it is running and MOT'd - stop tinkering and ride the damn thing and remind yourself how much fun these things are.
Genuinely got my fingers crossed it all comes to gether for you now.
Keep us posted

thanks guys. i really hope itl pass. NGneer, that is exactly what i am doing, checking all the connections and wrapping them if needed, and securing them down with duct tape.
there is only one thing i am worried about is, and thats the throttle sticking. i tried routing it via the mechanics manual, but i cant make out where it is going through etc... can anyone be kind enough to take a picture of their throttle cable routing on an nc30 and post it up? im not sure if ive done it right.
