Will other carbs fit my gk76
To start of my 92 gk76a spends more time off the road than it does on it , all because of there famous carbs , I hate them with a passion now , I have just replaced o rings and took carbs to tuning place to have float heights done and now my bike is worse I give up now , and can't find any replacement gk76 carbs anywhere ! So my question would be will others models fit , bandit , early gsxr 400 or something else completely like yamaha ? Any ideas

Re: Will other carbs fit my gk76
You can only fit horizontal carbs to the gsxr.
Most of the other 400's have downdraft and will not fit.
The best thing you can do is post your problem and people will try and help,
The o'ring problem is usually rich running and any other issue will be something else.

Re: Will other carbs fit my gk76
Do they change style over the years ? Because I read that gsf/katana use bst33ss but they look different, all I can find that may get my bike running is a set off bandit 400 carbs but I don't know if they have 2 fuel lines like gk76 plus there intake look alittle different so think it may need cone air filters

Yes the carb is different after 89, think the closest carb is the 35mm RF600.
As i understand it the carb is the same casting with a different bore, if you can drop on a cheap set the tops should fit.

Re: Will other carbs fit my gk76
If you have a strong spark and the pilot system is clean the bike should start.
Are the plugs wet or dry?
If they are wet then carefully check the electrical side out.
If dry you need to look at the pilot system and choke.
You can have a play about with the RF carbs and figure out exactly how the pilot system works.
You will have air going in through the pilot air jet at the front of the carb and fuel coming up through the pilot jet, this is then feed through the small hole that the pilot screw opens.
People bang on about the carbs on the gsxr but they are no different to any other 20 year old 400.
If everything is ok the bike will start so take your time.
