Post by mani »

hi all

I am new to bikes, i have just bought a non runner GSXR400 i think its a gk76. the guy i bought it off was planning a track bike project and in an attempt to shed weight chopped a lot of the loom off, so i will be looking for a new loom. also its not been fired up in 2 years. as i work i will only be able to spend whatever time i have free on it. i will be asking a lot of questions and appreciate any help i get

Welcome mate looks nice . RL is the model number you don't need to search eBay with that If you just type in gsxr 400 loom there are 3 or 4 on there for the 76a. I think the only thing you Have to worry about is your bike should have 2 jack plugs for the Cdi box under the rear seat so you need a new loom with 2 jack plugs for the Cdi not 1 jack plug . 1 plug is for the sp model . Chain and sprocket kits are all over eBay but most bike shops will get you what you want

The L designates your model year. You have a standard 1990 GSXR400R. Try your Ebay searches using GK76. You will have plenty pop up. Give it a good look over. I found on my 1990 a lot of the rubber bits were in bad shape.

whats the difference between GK76 & GK76A ?

looked at the wiring today, every inch of wire is spliced, sliced or chopped. i need a new loom for everything. i have block connectors missing as well. so on the hunt for wiring now

the loom looks like a mad baboon was let loose on it with a pair of snips......so with an engine loom i alos need left and right handle switches with looms as all block connectors on the existing loom have been cut off. :(

HI , Loom been chopped for racing  3 options
1. Repair it if your handy with wiring and solder iron
2.Find a complete 2nd hand road loom with all the bits you need and replace the lot
3. There are specialists who can knock a bespoke loom up but is costly
Lovely looking the 76a 100mph looks standing still , filth
Silver is even rarer , double filth
Keep the faith , that is a very special motorcycle you have
