I use Castrol power 1 racing fully synthetic 10w40 or 10w30 (i prefer the 10w40)
It's like fine red wine for your engine ;)

:plus:

I use that on me fzr and vfr, my nc30 had a very strange rattling at about 2500rpm changed the oil for the castrol and it went away! Never had any clutch slip problems.

Cheers

Thanks for the replies. What kind of coolant for the RVF?

Can I use the same kind of coolant in the RVF for a CBR250RR?

Mine is a race bike so i only used distilled water. but i guess you need a coolant suitable for aluminium?

I use Castrol Power 1, albeit the semi-synth. I no longer do huge miles on the bike, so the oil gets changed on time rather than distance, and it doesn't have quite the hard life it used to when I racked up stupid distances very quickly. The last time I changed the oil, it came out almost like new. I was once shown the oil that came out the bike after it was serviced when it had reached the service interval on distance, and it was absolutely filthy. These days, doing maybe 2 or 3000kms a year, I figure annually is fine, after all, it's what Honda say. If I was commuting, I'd cut that to six months or (obviously) the recommended distance. Yes, probably a waste of oil, but fortunately I manage to get it a little cheaper thanks to access to a Halfrauds card, and as the engine has been around the clock, I figure the older it gets the more likely it is that something is going to start going wrong, and a thorough inspection of the old oil isn't a bad way of seeing if something is starting to go amiss.

Don't see why not, but always check on the container before buying to make sure. Some types will NOT necessarily be suitable. If it doesn't say suitable for aluminium, I'd leave it on the shelf.

2.4 litres for just an oil change, 2.5 if you change the filter aswell. And then I think it's around 3 litres for an engine re-build.

I change my oil and filter every 1500kms, pampered bike :peace:
