Ticking noise

I'm not sure if this is normal for an NC29 but I try to start my bike and it doesn't start, but, when I release the starter button I can hear a pretty fast ticking noise that continues until I switch off the ignition, turning the ignition back on doesn't start the ticking again, it only ticks after trying to start it. It's not the slower ticking of a lack of petrol, it's a fair bit faster than that, is it normal for an NC29?

Nothing is moving, indicators are off but the sound sounds like it's coming from the engine (though I have no idea why it is ticking when the engine isn't fired up).

I'm not sure what you mean, it's a brand new battery so there shouldn't be any problems with that. I'm not concerned about the bike not starting, I'm concerned about the ticking noise that occurs even though the bike hasn't started, could the battery be causing that somehow?

Could be a bad connection on the fuel pump solenoid. Check to see if it's getting hot. If it is, there's likely a short or bad connection.

Thank you, that's something for me to take a gander at.
