I'm in the process of repairing and polishing my exhaust. Its completely corroded where the front tubes join.


Could some one with and original (unrepaired preferably) measure there's please. Maybe a photo?

Is the tube the same diameter or does it increase for the sealing ring?

The exhaust is nighh on 35mm inner diameter WITH the gasket in-place.

The gasket is not available anymore.

My bad, 18391-310-000 and 18391-MN5-650 exhaust gaskets are available from David Silvers for 4.95.

I was confusing the bike with the NC24. However, I still wouldn't bother with the gasket.

Many aftermarket exhausts (like the Yamamoto in the picture below) do not use a gakset.. they dont have slots cut in as they dont use a clamp.

They have 35mm inner diameter.. if you have to make new collars just make sure the ID is 35mm and weld them on and dont bother with the clamps or gaskets.

Maybe a slight bit of ordinary silicon to seal them if you get any blow-by but its the easiest and cheapest way to do it (probably why all the 3rd party mfgs do this also)

I've just made some new ones up at college... i made them 40mm wide drilled and cut the slots and then rolled the sheet and folded in the ends. The sheets dimension was 138mm x 40mm of 0.8mm sheet. Hi, i did it neos way, just welded two bits of pipe on the end of the original ones, i also welded some spring clips one while i was at it to save using clamps, makes taking the exhaust off sooo much easier!

Yamamoto doesnt even use spring clips :) With the rear can bolted on theres no way it can work loose.
