Capless and fitted into rubber holders that push fit

Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

Yep. Thats the one that goes in the 6o'clock position in the speedo, lights up the odometer. It's half the size of the others. Listed as a 12V-1.7W, T6.5 bulb in the parts manual.

Re: SPEEDO/REV COUNTER LAMPS
didn't know about that one
it's not listed in the "general specification" section of the workshop manual, but having checked, it is shown on the wiring diagram, and is marked simply as "speed"
nice one chaps
it's on my to-do list for this weekend

Re: SPEEDO/REV COUNTER LAMPS
I replaced all my dash lamps with LEDs. I found my 25yr old standard bulbs a bit dim and too yellowish.
So i bought a 10 pack of ultra white wedge LED bulbs from Ebay (China) cost me $5 shipped. 0.2W each.
They worked great in everything except the flasher indicator as on my 88 FZR400U (CDN model) the circuit must reverse flow depending on left or right signal. So it only worked for the left but not the right, i simply put the higher powered (2.7W) standard bulb back in that circuit. Just macke sure you know which is positive and negative on both the bulb and the bulb socket and you will be fine.
I figured i could use the extra 20W for more powerful headlight bulbs.....But that plan didnt work out as teh seller of teh 45/45 w bulbs never shipped my order, so i ended up with standard 35/35, but teh Philips "30% Brighter" versions.

Kribster - couldn't you have changed the headlights for UK fzr lamps, then you can use 55/60w H4 bulbs with switch relays.

Re: SPEEDO/REV COUNTER LAMPS
i can run any H4 bulb i want to as they fit straight in, i didnt want to put too much load/heat on my old harness, so i figured a bump to 45/45 was pretty safe. When i got the bike it had 1 35/35 and one 80/100!
