Howdy guys.

Ever since I bought my GK73A I've really loved it, but .. due to severe lack of information on the model in general and the troublesome carbs situation (there are NO aftermarket filters for the 73A carbs) and the fact that I have carb and air filter issues has got me thinkin ...

Firstly I would be prepared to spend and buy a brand new aftermarket set of carbs, bigger ones if it ment it would do the job, work correctly and give more power, but whats that gonna cost ? a lot I expect ..

I am so frustrated with havin the bike sat here and not knowin how to solve me carb issues sufficiently I am thinkin of strippin the bike to the bare frame and chassis, get em powder coated and rebuild the bugger from the ground up, its sommat I always wanted to do anyway, real project.

SO .. question ...

Engine .. I have read things online of people putting blade engines into 400's even fzr 1000 Exup motors in em, I also heard horror stories of bigger engines causing frame to crack etc.

So I have two questions if anyone knows ...

1. What do you think would be a suitable upgrade for the GK73A chassis ? I am thinkin along the lines of a GSX-R 600 SRAD engine transplant.

2. How difficult would this be to do ? is it just a case of new engine, carbs, cdi, loom and put it all together ? and how am I going to know if a new engine will fit, or is it a case of you make it fit, I dunno how people go about doin this, maybe take frame and engine to an engineering place or sommat ?

If I can't get an aftermarket set of carbs to fit then I think I am gonna go down new engine route cos I had enough of problems with this bike to last me a lifetime.

Any input much apprecaited.

Cheers.

Matt :D

Would the 750 engine fit ?

I was thinking of something small like a 600 engine, am sure the 750 are much bigger and heavier without that much more power ?

well it looks possible i have toyed with the idea myself on my gk76a...but due to leaving the country for a year mine is now forsale.
i reckon it is very much possible but you would have to have a bit of extra support put in the frame i would think. if not a L/M i would look at a H/G model, i dont know if they would be any heavier but they will be cheaper and gsx-r 750's are easy to get bits for!!
