Hi,
Unable to remove the clevis pin that joins the rear brake pedal to the brake master cylinder actuator rod.
Split pin removed ok, clevis pin rotates about 20 degress in the u shaped bracket (whilst the brake pedal remains still), but the pin will not pull out. Evidence of rust, so soaked in wd40 for a couple of days. Still no joy. Access to rear of pin to hit or push out (with a hub puller or similar) not possible due to exhaust and heatshield. Don't want to disassemble the rear brake circuit unless absolutely necessary.

I am thinking that the clevis pin might be rusted to the bearing in the pedal (so the bearing might be rotating in the ally casting along with the pin)? Clevis pin head now looking very sad, so ordered a new one and u shaped bracket. If I am correct then may need a replacement brake pedal also.

Hope I am making sense, sure someone must have had this problem before. Any ideas on how to get the pin out please?

I take it you mean part 15, it just goes through the U shaped bracket, there is no bearing in it.

Never seen one sieze or rust up before either.

Remove the footrest and heatshiedl as a copmlete unit and shoud should be able to swivel it enough to get to the back and knock it out.

Yeah part 15, the bearing i was on about is actually a brass bush on the brake pedal itself which is in the middle of the U shaped bracket. I will give what you recommend a try.

You say remove the footrest and heatshield, will all this come off the bike without disconnecting the brake hose?

Monday morn blues... though I would share my joy from yesterday:

Parts order came in last week, so time to tackle this job. With the rearset assembly & heatshield removed it gave enough room to work. Got the bu99er out, but it fought all the way - had to fettle a spacer for the front then use a very large G-clamp & drift to press the pin out from the rear with 2 pairs of hands, could have done with a a 3rd set. I was correct the pin had well & truely welded itself to the bush in the brake pedal arm.

Who would have thought that such an insignificant £2 part could cause so much grief! Sorted )
