Speedo restrictor issue.

Hi just a quick question.

If you take the clocks off your CBR 400 without doing the resistor mod would this cause the bike to run funny and possibly fire on 2 cylinders at a certain rpm or something like that?

This would mean the 2 restrictor wires would not be connected to the clock.

Would a derestricted ECU prevent this from happening.

Has anyone had much experience with this?

Thanks.

Hi, at least I have a lead.

Obviously the sensor is not connected to the clocks but no resistor has been put in the CDI to trick it so it will think it is doing a speed which it most certainly isnt.

This makes sense, however I will report back once I have installed a resistor/derestricted cdi.

Thanks.

LP nice diagram but WTF would you put a resistor at both ends of the same wire?

I think it's one or the other, not both. :peace:

its one or the other, NOT both...
eg if you want to remove the clocks completely, you can fit the mod at the CDI end,
if you just want to keep the standard stuff, fit under clocks end. ;)
