Hi guys I was doin about 90 m.p.h on my 89 nc30 the other week on a track obviously  . when I looked down my speedo was hovering strangly above and below 40?? then eventually stopped altogether :( .
On inspection the cable turns when riding at the top also turns with motrax speedo convertor on, and the speedo only works with the cable in with no convertor and reading kph not mph??
tried a new motrax and still the same but worked faultless with the latter one for several months and the cable is new??
I want to fit a koso rx1n gp syle cluster and would appreciate repair advice or help with the koso install as my baby is also my only means of transport at the moment
I have bought a de-restrictor box to plug in by the cdi what else will i need to get or do for the bike to fit them???
also advice on getting original set-up working for transport in between parts arrival and fitting?
will greatly appreciate any help  anthony (south wales)...

Check the white nylon bit that sits on the sprocket nut and turns the cable, sometimes to round off the slot and maybe the resistance of the converter is giving the 40mph reading

the KOSO won't need the adapters or the cable will it? You would use a magnet I expect?

So, use it in kph....you say that works? I have never had a problem with using kph, it is simple maths and is second nature to me now.

thanks for the advice , the koso does have a cable connector didnt fancy messing with magnets in case they fall off bike when riding after the upgrade. Where i live there is a speed camera every ten seconds lol so dont fancy having to think about my speed would rather see it, also in kph the clock would stop at 180 and my bike is de-limited...

I don't see any problems to be fair!

The Koso using a magnet is better as when you change the gearing on the NC it affects the reading at the speedo. SO, for accuracy, you want a magnet setup.

KPH and 180 - it would sweep on past it...not a problem..it actually goes just past the writing on the dial...on track of course..and certainly not on the A6 near Buxton.
