Okay, i got the bike MOT ready finally... and now when i tried to start the bike... it...will....not....start..... and i have no idea why.. the bike was working when i put it in the garage. i just dont see why it wont start now?!... do i have to have the clocks plugged in for it to start? because they are disconnected, i did connect it and tried it but the battery went flat so i couldnt try it for longer. can anyone please help me, im so fucking annoyed.
i have done all the basics things before, things like checking if its getting any fuel, ive cleaned the carbs, ive checked for spark, ive checked absolutely everything, and now there is nothing else i can do. the idler i have not touched at all so it cant be that.

I don't think they need to be plugged in just to fire up the bike, but I'm pretty sure the ignition goes into some sort of limp home mode if it doesn't detect the speedo attached because it's looking for the speed limiter circuit, or something like that. I think you lose ignition after about 6K.
Too many things it could be. Charge the battery, connect the clocks, then see what happens and describe exactly what you find...

As above plus I presume the bike is cranking over just not catching?
Did you clean up the plugs when you checked for spark? They could be soaked. I had the same problem and had to clean them up on the hob then set the bike's idle to 3k rpm and let it get really hot to burn off the plugs properly.
Are you missing any connections in the coils or something? Or an earth you may have not put back on?
Could be simple things like that.

oh god here we go again

might sound silly but have you checked the killswitch? We have all forgotten it before at least once lol.
Is the bike just turning over and over with no other issues like jamming or whatever you had before?

yeah the bike is cranking over but its not catching. i will check the plugs tomorrow again and see what condition its in. i dont think im missing any connections as i havent really taken any off other than the battery etc.
Kieran, ive checked the kilswitch and no more jamming and knocking sounds like before, i fixed that by changing my CDI seemed to fix that problem.

When you say the clocks plugged in do you mean the original clocks or the aftermarket ones you bought?
Are you sure you have the r/h switchgear connected?
Since working on the clocks have you touched the battery, reg, or anything mechanical?
My guess is you have been working on the clocks and have been watching them light up in bright blue and run the battery so low there is not enough power to turn it over killing the plugs. Or you have disconnected something like the switchgear.

So you've only taken off the ignition box, and now there's no spark. Nope, can't see a connection there.
