Are you building a go-kart?
There nice with all the sensors the provide but ive only ever seen them used in karts before.
Anyway..
How many times are you wrapping the wire around the lead? Two strokes only need it wrapping aroudn once or twice, a 4 stroke will need it wrapping around many times to get a signal.
I take it you tried to set the RPM up too in the RPM menu
Do they even work with multi cylinder / multi coil engines though as your taking the feed from only one of the coils..
http://aim-sportline.com/download/doc/e ... EU_eng.pdf
Here is the manual, it details how to wrap the wire on 4 stroke engines.

yeah i have changed the rpm setup, i have only tried to use the yellow wire that was for the original tacho set as the bike is still not complete so i can't fully start it (has no exhaust on it atm) so though i'd just put this out there , also i asked the Au importer if i can run it on the nc30 & he said yes no probs so just a matter of trying a few things i guess
oh yeah no not building a go kart lol

The tacho wire won't work mate, give one of the coil wires a go.

Hopefully they'll all be running at the same rpm...

I guess the one that's closest will do, I presume the software on the unit can be altered to take into account the number of cylinders, although given that there's a wasted spark on each coil I guess you have to tell it a different number of cylinders or you'll be running 30K rpm? lol

Ah yes, the NC30 is wasted spark so yes it will work on a x2 factor.
I was thinking of NC24 which has 4 separate coils and would need a x4...

Sometimes there can be some interference which f**ks up the reading so try all the Cylinder HT leads :-)
