I need to replace the chain on my 3EN1. Searching the net gives differing options and I'm not sure what the standard chain and sprockets sizes are. I'm looking at these two DID chains with 104 links, would they be the correct length?

520VX2 GB x 104
525VX GB x 104

Sprocket sizes confusing me and I don't know if mine is standard. Options seem to vary:

15/44 and 19/55 are offered on various sites, which ratio would be right for 3EN1.

The bike is for commuting and rides out, nothing frantic.

The smaller numbers (15/44) are for a 520 chain and the larger ones (19/55) are for a 428 chain. It makes no difference whatsoever in reality but I prefer 520 chains over 428s. 428s are lighter but you have much more choice with regard to sprocket sizes if you use 520 chains.

Now, our B&C Express catalogue lists the 86-89 (Genesis, 3EN1 and 3EN2) as using 15/44 gearing with a 108 link 525 chain. Personally, I'd use a 520 chain and sprockets to match but that's just me.

The 1WG bikes use 15/44 but it was changed to 19/55 on the 3TJ (I think)

The bigger front sprocket gives the chain an easier time, it wraps around a wider diameters and there are more teeth on the rear so more surface area for the chain to pull ... well that's what I think it's probably different in reality.
A 520 is a bigger chain than the Yamaha item, it should last longer (provided you care for it), there's a slight performance consideration in the weight of the chain but you won't feel it.
Kayla seems to have the size of sprockets nailed (there's an offset on the front sprocket due to the bigger size chain) so I'd go through her

Hi Nige,

15/44 is about right, go for a 15/47 with a 110 link chain if you want a bit more oomph at the expense of outright speed, and I can guarantee we will be cheaper than anywhere else for chains and sprockets...
